Hi everyone, I hope I am doing this correct I wasn't sure how to post in here. I am finally swallowing my pride and claiming for Pip. I have various health issues including severe social anxiety, chronic migraines, but the worst is arthritis in many different parts of my body, I am most affected by my hands and wrists so really struggling. My question is about the question on the form asking about going out, I do not go out at all whatsoever I don't leave the house so I am obviously going to answer this question by ticking yes where it asks if I am unable to go out due to anxiety or stress, the other two questions asking if I need help going out or following a journey I am unsure what to tick for these I was originally going to say no because I don't go out so they don't really apply but I do obviously occasionally have to go out to hospital appointments dentist etc even though these are very very rare occurrences I do have to go to them and if I do have to go I have to have someone with me like my mum or my son so do I tick sometimes for the questions asking if I need someone with me to go out or do I just ignore because I don't want it to look like I am contradicting my answer that says I do not go out. If I say I need someone with me when I go out but then I am ticking yes to the question asking if I don't go out at all it does look like I'm contradicting myself but I do need a chaperone when I go to appointments it is very confusing and I don't want to be tripped up with this any help is appreciated I hope I am posting in the right place, thanks so much!

This is the right place to post.
Your question is one that a lot of people are asking.
You say that the only reason you leave the house is for hospital appointments and therefore you are likely to tick descriptor e.
Descriptor e says: Cannot undertake any journey because it would cause overwhelming psychological distress to the claimant.
You might want to tick descriptor f in that you need help to leave home, but because you only do it for hospital appointments, you are unlikely to score for this as it has been looked at by an Upper Tribunal and they have said that if e) applies to you and you never undertake a journey because of overwhelming psychological distress, then f) cannot apply because you would not be able to follow a route even if you had another person with you.
If you are not sure which ones to tick you can always leave the box empty and write - "see below" and put your explanation in the box or on an additional sheet. You do not lose out because you didn't tick or do something that appears a contradiction.
