Help!! Made to move from DLA to PIP was created by jayjay1963
Hi All
Well as everything has changed in the social security system, the dreaded brown letter hit the mat 3 days ago to move from DLA to pip.
I had to fight for DLA years ago and was awarded it for life (now means nothing so i'm told) so i have done the call to them now waiting for the forms to hit the mat.
I really don't know what to do with all of these papers coming through the door and don't know what sort of back up i will need.
I have Lupus Fibromialga osteoporosis Jessners (skin) arthritis and waiting for liver test's and have something growing in my bowel.
How do you even try to start to tell these people what you have let alone how it effects you everyday? I'm in constant pain and have severe fatigue and some days can't even get out of my bed, i expect that will be to much info for the pip people i'm guessing??
Another thing i was told was that my DLA payments will stop in 4 weeks time? is this right? I thought they continued to pay the DLA until they had made a decision about your pip claim?
Any advice would be very welcome thanks in advance..........xx

Hi Jayjay1963
Applying for PIP can seem overwhelming, but we have an excellent guide which although is large, goes through every question with suggestions on how you might answer it. There are many people who have complex conditions like yourself and you should list them all under the medical conditions on the form. When it comes to filling in the form, it is not the conditions themselves that the DWP are most interested in, it is the impact they have on your daily life in terms of the PIP criteria. So one of the first questions is can you cook a basic meal - and you will need to describe any limitations you have due to your medical condition and what exactly they are. Always keep the criteria in mind because it is a point-scoring system.

In terms of your DLA - it should continue until your PIP decision is made and I would query this with them.
