Hi James

You definitely do not want to wait until they send you an appointment! If you did that they would count that as one of your two allowed appointments. If they then gave you a home visit and it wasn't convenient you would not be able to change it.

Also, you need to know they don't even always agree to home visits even with a GP's letter, so the sooner they have it the better.

If you can bear it, I would ring the DWP and tell them of the letter now and say you will be sending them a copy. Then send it tracked post. Include a letter from you, that says "Further to our conversation on (date) please find attached a letter (date) from Dr X, my GP ....etc.

Thanks BIS for your quick reply.

Having just re-read the letter,

The GP said on the letter that because of Osteoarthritis in my hips and feet, I have difficulty walking and would find it difficult to walk any significant distance. Do you think this is okay, or should he have given an actual distance that I could walk?

Also, what is the address that I should send the letter to the DWP?

Sorry about all the questions, but I'm starting to get worked up over all of this.

Hi James

The letter could be better, but honestly, I wouldn't worry about it. At least you have one. And even if had said you could only walk 20ms - the DWP/IAS might think you could go to a centre and be dropped at the door by a taxi and walk into a room. Hopefully just saying what he has done so is enough.

You should send the form to the address you sent back with your PIP form - It should be on your original letter.
