Hi everyone I got a substantial backdated payment this week, really shocked as I only got a letter on Saturday informing me that due to a change in law 201(/17 I qualified for the enhanced mobility rate. They didn’t say how much so I thought about £900
I was shocked ,happy confused, scared already spending the money in my head to improve my surroundings and helping with my health
Now for the downside of it . I’m going though with a Debt Relief Order for the debt I’ve got myself in .
Will the DRO take the money off me to pay my debtors

This is not an area that we deal with on the forum, I can't say whether the DRO would require you to use the back payment to reduce your debt but from I have found you are obligated to inform the official receiver that you have received it.

As Gordon said, you need to report it so I wouldn't spend anymore until you have spoke them. I got a PPI award and it was taking by the OR, I know isn't the same thing but it is listed in lump sum payments you must inform them about as is benefit back payment so its better to be safe than sorry and wait until you know either way before spending.

This is from a website:

What if I get a lump sum of money during the moratorium period?
Receiving a lump sum of cash or a valuable asset may affect your debt relief order. This is because a DRO is granted on the grounds that you don’t have the financial means or assets to pay your debts off.

If you receive a lump sum or any assets of value while you're on a DRO you MUST let the Insolvency Service know about it.

Lump sums could come from:

An inheritance
Winning the lottery (you never know!)
Compensation from an accident
Backdated benefit payments
PPI reclaims

It was the CAB page on DROs that I was reading, don't lose track of your personal responsibilities just because you are talking to them.
