Help with my initial claim was created by Winston1968
Hi this is my first post as had the brown evenelope drop threw the door last week for my husband who is on low care and high mobility on DLA and I am on high for both and my letter arrived threw the door 3 days after my husband's so we both are going to be going threw at the same time which a terrifying thought so I am sure I will have many questions along the way. Anyway my first question is I am about to call up to start the initial claim for PIP and went it gets to the question of which healthcare professionals support you to I give them their contact details or do I get a report etc from my Dr. , OT , consultant etc myself.? What is the best way to answer this question

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi S
Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is
Welcome to Benefits and Work
In case you are not aware, your real name appears to be showing in the forum, if you want to change this then follow the instructions in the following FAQ
My full name is showing, how can I stop it?
With regard to the initial phone call you do not have to give all the medical professionals that support you when you make that first call (despite what it says) - though you can if you want to- but it relies on the person you're speaking to to get it down correctly I couldn't even remember the name of my GP and it made no difference. I was just told to put it on the form when it arrived. - so do not worry too much. Just have your GP's information. It's not a test to see if you get it right or wrong.
I am sorry that you and your husband are both having to do this. Do have a look at our comprehensive guide because there is a big difference between DLA and PIP and it is really important that you understand the differences when you are filling in the forms
