PIP ongoing was created by neptuno
I’m 64 and been awarded enhanced PIP for ongoing period. What will happen to this benefit when I reach retirement age in two years time ? Am I likely to be reassessed in ten years or is this the equivalent of an indefinite award ?

Hi Neptuno

Congratulations on your enhanced award.

An ongoing period means you have been awarded PIP for the next ten years. Nothing will happen in two years time when you reach retirement age - you will continue to be paid the enhanced award. The government announced that people reaching retiring age will be subject to 'light touch reviews' in the future. The DWP has yet to announce exactly what that means but as you are not going to be assessed for another ten years you have plenty of time to find out!
