PIP - write to DWP re F2F report before decision ? was created by Louise
Hi all,
I am transitioning from indefinite DLA (middle care, higher mobility) to PIP. I requested a copy of my health professional’s report from the face-to-face which has now arrived. There are two issues with it:
1) For the category of taking nutrition and health professional has marked zero points. However in the written description of the reason behind this decision she has written I need an aid, which would qualify for two points. This is the difference between getting 11 points and 13 points so it’s obviously quite significant. I’m hoping it’s just a slip of the mouse but will the DWP decision maker pick up on this?
2) The length of the award recommended is 18 months. I’m really disappointed with this as I know this means in reality they can reassess me a year early and I can’t imagine having to go through this again in 6 months.
I have 3 medical conditions. Conditions 1 & 2 were diagnosed in childhood and I submitted letters from the relevant consultants saying these conditions are long term and will not change. Condition 3 is recently diagnosed and I am waiting to see a specialist. Even condition 3 is cured, conditions 1 & 2 will persist. In the health professional’s own report, 95% of the reasons behind the points I am awarded for each category relate to my condition 1 & 2, no descriptors relies solely on the impact of condition 3 to give me the points.
Is it worth writing to the DWP before a decision is made to point this out and asking them to consider a longer award? Or should I wait for the decision and then apply for mandatory reconsideration(assuming they follow the HP’s recommendation)? I wonder if it is easier to put these points to the case manager before there is a formal decision.
Many thanks.

Thanks BIS. It doesn’t show when I click my name (even if cleared history), so very grateful for the link!
