Support group to fit to work ...m/r advice please was created by Minx34
Hi
I have been in the support group for several years having previously worked all of my life until I lost my job due to my health issues . I have psoriatic arthritis, osteoarthritis and fibromyalgia. My previous assessment was in 2017 when I was kept in the support group.
Since then my conditions have deteriorated but also, I am probably more unusual, in that I am doing "permitted work". ...I started as a volunteer at an organisation and was offered a part time job and the only reason I can work is they give me total flexibility about what time I start work...working from home etc etc.
I received an esa50 in November. ..had a medical assessment in July and got the letter this week saying my esa and mortgage support has been stopped with immediate effect.
Has anyone else been in this situation where they have been doing permitted work and esa has been stopped? I don't think there is any coincidence!
Any advice would be appreciated as I am sure m/r will uphold the decision as per their usual process.
Thanks

Hi Minx34
I have know numerous people doing permitted works without their benefits being stopped.
My understanding of permitted works is that it has to be approved by DWP by using a form PW1.
There are 3 types of permitted works:
1) Permitted work lower limit: you can earn up to £20 pw
2) Permitted work higher limit: you can earn up to £131.50 a week. You must not work 16 hours or more a week.
3) Supported permitted work: You can earn up to £131.50 a week, work carried out as part of your treatment programme under medical supervision or employed by a public or local authority or voluntary or community interest organisation that provides or arranges work opportunities for disabled people.

hi Gary
Thanks for your reply.
I think I may be being paranoid about the permitted working!
I just don't understand how I can go from SG to fit to work when I have deteriorated in the last year.
There were so many omissions /errors in the medical report and the D/M''s notes and I am currently starting to go through and identify all of these before I actually address the activities and points.
One question I have is should the DM explain the decision as all they did was cut and paste the HCP Report and say "evidence indicates no points can be awarded"?...I got 0 points for every single activity!
Thanks

You should have received an ESA65 which with the Decision Letter, this should explain, at least to some extent, how the Decision was made. Is this what you are referring to in your post?
Do you know why you were placed in the Support Group previously? Is there any chance that the PW you were doing is in conflict with this award?
