Dla to PIp was created by Gill
Hi. My ASD boy is going from DLA to PIP.
I've just spoken to them and the dreaded form is being sent.
My boy suffers with terrible anxiety and will not even answer the door alone speak to anyone who comes in.
How am I to deal with a home visit?
I'm is appointee and am struggling of ways around this.
Any advice please.

Hi Gill

I don't know whether you have the support of your GP, but if they were willing to write a letter that states an assessment at a centre is out of the question and even a home visit would be detrimental to his mental health and well being because he can't take part in it - they might be willing to do a paper-based assessment. Even then they might not agree - but it's worth a go if your GP will help.

If he has to have the assessment and it is at home if he refuses to talk or meet with the assessor as his appointee you can only explain that this is part of his condition and they should be sympathetic to that.

Many thanks for reply.
Got GP letter which is great and very detailed plus he got a (SPOC) single point of therapist now who is willing to come forward.
Rather sad really as his fear of people are caused by being beaten up in school as he wanted to fit in but instead they made sure he didn't.
Forms are with Capita now so waiting to hear.
Will take it to manager level if they don't agree.
Will let you know what happens

Hi. Just had Capita phone me to go over questions. Really shocked as wasn't sure GP letter was enough to get a paper based assessment.
Gent on phone was fantastic and really showed empathy. Unofficially he said he recommending high rates with a review in 5 years.
Still shaking but so glad my lad doesn't have to go through the trauma of a f2f.

Hi Gill

So pleased to hear that your son hasn't got to go through a face to face. That must be a great relief. Hope you receive the official decision soon.
