DLA to PIP assesment. was created by Douglas Coombes
Hi there,
I wonder if you could advise me. This might be an unusual question so I'll understand if answering is difficult and/or not immediate! I have been sent an appointment for a medical interview for DLA to PIP only a couple of weeks after they received my form. I've been given an appointment at a local centre this Friday morning. My question is that I am a Chartered Physiotherapist by profession. (Just retired). Although I did mention this in my completed form I didn't make a great play of it. My evidence file was very comprehensive and a "lazy" read of it may have missed the detail ! I suppose there is a chance that the person examining me may be a former colleague who hasn't "clocked the name." I would feel very uncomfortable with this. Can I find out in advance who the examiner might be? If, on the day, this turns out to be the case would I be justified in asking for another appointment with a different assessor? Your advice/opinion would be greatly appreciated.

There is, of course, the argument that it may favour you to have someone that knows you do the assessment but the simplest way to deal with the situation is for you to contact the assessment centre and raise your concerns that way if there is a problem on the day you should be covered.

I would confirm in writing any conversation you have with both the Assessment Provider and the DWP office dealing with your claim.
