Home visit dla to pip was created by Susan coy
Hi I haven’t posted before normally just lurk around. I filled in my forms with the help of this web site, and I was sent a letter saying they want to visit me in my home this Friday.
What I’d like to know has anybody else had this as never had a home visit and what’s likely to happen when they arrive. I’ve been on dla for about 20 years with middle care and low mobility I was ant asked to migrate to pip, just that I’ve got so many things wrong with me now I decided to take the plunge before they sent that awful letter.

Hi Susan
The assessment you will have at home is not very different from an assessment held at an assessment centre, apart from the assessor can't ask the questions about how you traveled there, because obviously you haven't.
The assessor will ask you a number of questions which are based on the PIP criteria. Gary has given you links to the types of questions. Be aware it is not an exhaustive list - they will always throw in something that you may not be expecting because it is personal to you. It's not a trick - just a question. The assessor will have a laptop with them and will fill in the information as they speak to you. They may or may not ask you to do a couple of physical tests. You are allowed to refuse if something would cause you pain or distress.
I am sure you will have heard that some assessors are not nice, and that is true, but some are really kind so try not to treat them like the enemy when they arrive. They do not ask to see around your home.
Assessments last on average for an hour and a half.
