PIP Face to Face Advice was created by mr devon
Hi,
I have bipolar and ptsd, in the past i have not had to attend a face to face as i become aggressive and often violent when forced into strange surroundings and with the backup of my mental health team the dwp have done my medical assessment by paperwork alone.

i am now due a face to face but i have not been in the right place and have not been in contact with my mental health team, and my last psychiatrist has left so im now without any help so the dwp want me to attend a face to face, my wife spoke to the dwp explaining that they were forcing me into a situation that would probably end bad but they still want me to go.
i have canceled one appointment but there not happy about it and have made a new one
any advise would be great TIA

Hi Mr. Devon

Have you tried to involve your GP at all? Would he be willing to write a letter saying that because of your health issues, you are at risk if you are forced to attend a face to face and a paper-based assessment needs to be done?

I would also suggest that your wife involves your MP ASAP and see if they can over turn the decision. Obviously if you do not go to this second appointment, you are at risk of your claim being closed.

You should also think of contacting your local MHT. It doesn't matter whether or not you have been in recent contact with them.
