I was wondering do you have any idea how many claimants actually record their assessments? I also wondered is the main purpose of recording the assessment to replay the recording at a tribunal where an appeal has had to be made? My assessment is coming up and I'm thinking do I really need to record the assessment?
We have no figures on how many people choose to record their assessments. Some people choose to have someone with them to take notes rather than record. Some people record because they have had a bad experience with the inaccuracies or 'lies' told by assessors and they want to use the leverage of having a recording - which they can use either for a mandatory reconsideration or for an appeal.
You do not have to record, and plenty of people will say it does not matter - because they received the award they wanted, but obviously others regret not recording when they want to challenge an award. You have to do what feels right for you.
