Mandatory reconsideration was created by birderzee
Hi
My attended my Brother's PIP Assessment on 9 October 2019; and we received the decision on 14 October, that he was entitled to no award.
He received 2 points for his UC (toilet needs), and nothing else, even when in the middle of the assessment he stated he wanted to kill himself due to his illnesses. The assessment was stopped and we gave consent for the assessor to contact his GP.

My brother has several chronic illnesses (Renal Failure, Diabetes Type 1, Ulceration Colitis, Depression and Anxiety, Carpel Tunnel, Tourettes). He has been under the Mental Health Crisis Team earlier this year too, due to suicidal thoughts.

I've downloaded the various information from the site, and preparing a MR and to submit this no later than the 11 November.

I requested and received yesterday, a copy of the notes from the assessment - of which there are a number of contradictions. , as well as not stating the assessor at the time, was unable to complete much more of the information as the system broke down.

I've been told that i shouldn't go into too much detail in this MR Form, but have this prepared for the Tribunal Stage.
Should there be anything further I need to do?
I will also contact the Consultants he is under; to provide further support for his claim.

Thank you all in advance.
ZJ.

Hi Zara

I have moved your post. We ask people not to put questions inside other posts in case the different situations get muddled and you don't get the right answer to your post.

You are assuming that you are not going to get your Mandatory Reconsideration. I think it is important that you include the fact the assessment was not concluded - one because of your brother's mental health and two because of a computer breakdown. These are important points.
I would also highlight his ongoing support from the Crisis Team

You do not want to waste time criticising the assessor - but you do at this stage what to highlight inaccuracies and contradictions with the medical evidence you have. If you have time to get further information from the Consultant that will be great - but don't hesitate to send in for the MR without it. You can always add a note saying you were unable to get it in time and will be sending it on. I really would make sure you emphasise the fragile state of your brother.

Also make sure you have fully explained where you think he should have scored more hightly - and where his difficulties impact on his daily living.
