Carer Premium and irESA was created by ka
Hi there,
I'm wondering if I can receive Carers Premium on my irESA.
I live with my grandmother whom is in receipt of Pension Credit and Attendance Allowance Higher Rate. She receives SDP in her Pension Credit, and receives Carer Premium too as she has underlying entitlement to Carers Allowance.
I receive irESA and PIP Enhanced Rate Care and Mobility. I receive SDP on my irESA. As my grandmother and I care for each other, would I also be entitled to Carer Premium on my ESA as I believe I have underlying entitlement to Carers Allowance for looking after my gran?
We are the only occupants in our home.
Thanks in advance for your advice.

You cannot claim Carers Allowance against your grandmother's AA without her losing her SDP payment making the two of you worse off as the Carers Premium you would receive is less than the SDP by about £30/week.
You continue to receive your SDP because she only has an underlying entitlement to CA, it is not actually paid..

Thanks Gordon, forgot about that angle actually. It’s a tangled web this system.
