Should I apply for PIP before retirement age because DLA & ESA will stop at retirement age whereas I believe that an existing PIP claim will continue past that date? I don't really know what I should do before reaching retirement age so any advice would be a great help. Thank you
If you already have a DLA award then it will not stop at State Retirement Age providing you continue to meet the criteria but you will be invited to claim PIP at some time.
If you do not already have a DLA award then you cannot make a new claim for DLA only PIP. It is worth thinking about as the post SRA benefit, Attendance Allowance, does not have a Mobility component so if you have problems with walking, going out or following a route then this can only be recognised through PIP.
