PIP Decision and length of award was created by PLWil40
Hi

I have received an award letter a week ago l received enhanced rate care and four points for mobility l am going to ask for a mandatory consideration on the going out part of the award decision maker said she did not give it to me because l go to the GP on my own and a worker which l see once a month.l do have anxiety which prevent me from going out the majority of the time. The GP l do need support but l live on my own and cannot always get support all the time to go l changed GP surgery due not being able to get there due to anxiety .the new surgery is across the road from home 3minutes. I do not have any supporting documents to go in with the mandatory reconsideration. I have tried to contact the organisation who supported me at the PIP assessment due to anxiety but they are not responding to my calls. I wanted them to put in writing the reasons why l needed support and what would have happened if they did not support me
Do you have to submit extra supporting document? If you don’t will this be used against you ?
Also on my award letter at the front it say l have awarded you enhanced care for an ongoing period then on the second page says we will be contacting you while your getting PiP to will be after the 25th March 2021
The health conditions l have are unlikely to change l thought the date of contact is very soon as it’s 1 year 4months l was on DLA before this award can l ask them to look at the length as l thought on going meant a longer period
I am very anxious and worried about challenging things in life l just wanted to see if it was worth asking about the length of award
thank you

Welcome back to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is

Welcome to Benefits and Work

In case you are not aware, your real name appears to be showing in the forum, if you want to change this then follow the instructions in the following FAQ

My full name is showing, how can I stop it?

Dealing with the award length first, you need to contact the DWP office dealing with your claim, one of the dates on your award letter is wrong; either it is a an On-Going award with review not before October 2029 or it is a 15 month award with renewal in early 2021.

As to the Going Out activity. You do not need to be housebound all of the time the legal test is the majority of days but you will need to show that you suffer from overwhelming psychological distress on the days, something that you do not mention in your post, anxiety is not going to be sufficient for you to score.

You do not need to supply additional information as part of the MR, you may already snt sufficient information and your MR can refer back to this but you will need to show some level of diagnosis of treatment for Agoraphobia or Social Anxiety, are these issues that you have discussed with your GP?

Thank you for your quick response l have post traumatic stress disorder and take medication for acute anxiety l have issues going to places on my own especially unfamiliar places as l become overwhelmed and cannot concentrate on what l need to do l have missed appointments due to not having anyone to come with me. I don’t know if this would be taken into consideration . My sister used to support me a lot but has recently had a baby’ so cannot physically come me but will prompt me to go places like to GP which is not regular. I don’t want to do a mandatory consideration if this is not going to be taken into consideration. My GP is new and is aware l have acute anxiety but we have. Only had conversations about me not using the specific medication anymore. I know you can’t tell me what to do but l just found the process very anxiety provoking I was looking under the descriptor of needing prompting to go plan a journey as an area
to use as an area of reconsideration .
I will contact the DWP to see which one is wrong thanks again for your advice

You will need to pick your battle, either you are unable to undertake a journey (leave your house) or you are unable to follow a route, the two tasks are mutually exclusive of each other.
