Pip waiting was created by Rince2028
Hi it has been nearly 7weeks since my pip assessment , I am on DLA middle rate and high rate mobility at the moment , the assessor was really good she even said she preferred me not to do the physical things as she could see how bad my health was ,she made it sound like it was clear cut ,even said don't worry you won't lose your mobility car , I'm in a wheelchair most of the time , since then I had a text and a letter saying they had everything that they needed , that was six weeks ago and I have heard nothing but the letter says not to phone unless something has changed , I'm getting worried I had my last award for life , is this wait normal ? Should I phone them ?

Hi Rince2028

You should not read anything into the delay in hearing from them. Unfortunately, there are variations around the country. The length of time should be within six weeks of the standard letter arriving saying they have all the information, but some have waited longer. If you are concerned then you can ring and ask them about the progress of your claim.

Hi I decided to phone them and I have been awarded higher rate mobility and standard rate living , that's what I have been on for years so no loss of money , but in the years since I was awarded at tribunal the middle rate dla , my condition has worsened I cannot bathe or dress my self , apart from washing my hands and arms because I get terrible pain and crams in my arms and I have leg pain as well , intact I have pain all over , when I worked my pip weekend points out I got 20 I know I'm no professional but surely I was not that far out , the assessor even told me she felt I should not do the physical side of the assessment because she was not happy I was fit enough , I did try but when she asked me to lift my legs they were shaking uncontrollably , my point is do I ask for a reconsideration or just take what I have , I'm so sure I qualify for it ?

Hi Rince2028

Unfortunately we can not advise you what option to take, if you are unhappy with the daily living component but happy with the mobility then you could ask DWP to review only the daily living component and explain why, check out our members only guides for help.
