ESA3(IBR) 06/18

Hi
My wife has just had the esa3(ibr)06/18 form to fill to cover the last 4 years! Do we have to fill it in even though we know we are not eligible, as we have occupational pensions? Also is there anything we should know about the form? It seems very complicated! I would appreciate any help. Thank you.

Yes they know about our pensions.

We called the number on the letter and explained that we knew my wife didn't qualify for income related ESA (we were on hold for 40 minutes waiting to speak to someone). The person who answered was very nice and polite. We were told that he would send an email to the appropriate person and would be 'de-selected' from the process. So thank goodness no 44 page double sided form to fill in! The questions which covered a 4 year period were so in depth.

He said nothing would happen if we didn't send the form back by the date stated on the letter, he was surprised there was a date deadline!

It's always so stressful when you see a dreaded brown envelope.

Thank you for reply. We did say we wanted to reply to confirm we were not going to send the form back as you suggest. But he said I wouldn't if I were you. Not sure why he said this? I agree I was worried, but he was very sure. I said is this call being recorded, so they know I have asked about sending a letter. He said it was and I should get a letter in the next few weeks confirming that my wife had been 'de-selected' from the process. He was cerrain that not returning the form was not a problem, he said shred it if you want. So let's hope he's right.
We'll see!
