BBC News 1/2 of Disability Appeals...... was created by apples6
Hi
Re todays News:
www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-49891159
"One in two people who appealed in court against a decision to deny them disability benefits was successful, analysis of five years of data shows...."
I think it was BIS last week who kindly replied:
The interest here I have here is in is in PIP ( I think tv BBC news item had DLA and ESA and PIP stats for transferees from DLA
Is it the same currently in 2019 that 1/2 half of Appeals on or for PIP are successful please?
That does of course mean that could take up to 1+1/2 years for some going from start to finish
and the person has had to go through the whole processes and MR and then will be deprived of the money for however long it takes and they then need to win the Tribunal hugely mv stress making.
And Particular Interest is of those on a) DLA "Invite!" to PIP? those transferring numbers and statistics success rate/s..
Is it 50 % success rate from an Appeal tribunal please or another percentage for these persons?
www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-49891159
and / or b)stats mentioned Could hav also e been "new" PIP claimants? which may be different?
Many thanks

The article and the report that it is based ib do not appear to explain what appeals are included in the report, for example; administrative appeals where success rates may be lower versus award ones which we know to be higher.
To answer your specific question the PIP appeal success rate is around 75% but you should be careful of applying this to your own claim.
