PIP Tribunal to be heard by Video Link - HELP

Hi,

A bit of context. I received a date for my PIP Tribunal hearing at Wrexham County Court for the end of October. I was informed by CAB (who had completed all my forms from the start) to provide the Tribunal with my medical records which were sent to Cardiff about 10 days before. I turned up on the day of the hearing only to be told that the Clerk hadn’t seen the email that had arrived that morning from Cardiff with my records and because there were 192 pages it would take too long for them to print them, read them and then have my hearing and as there was another hearing after mine it would need to be postponed. To say I was upset was an understatement.

Anyway I have now received my new Tribunal date but have been advised that it will be heard in Wrexham Court but via video link from Swansea!

Has anyone else experienced this and if so how did it work?

Also does anyone know if there are any stats on these type of hearings?

I’m concerned as obviously they aren’t going to be able to see how you struggle to walk, sit down etc. How much pain you are in and how uncomfortable sitting is etc. Oh and on top a decision will not be made on the day so I will be waiting all over again.

Any help/reassurance would be appreciated.

Many thanks

HM Courts & Tribunals are trying to be more flexible in the service that they offer to claimants, they are also trying to make the best use of the limited resources that they have in regard to increasing levels of appeals being requested. I am guessing the video call is a result of this.

We haven't seen this reported on the forum but I am aware of this from other ones, I have to warn you that the success rate, of the video call, has not been high with it failing on the day.

As to the appeal itself, I don't think that you will suffer overly by not being seen, Tribunal members are trained to confirm any visual observations that they might make by questioning during the hearing, which of course they can still do.

Best of luck.
