Andrew

Have you checked that they have actually seen the psychiatrist's letter?

Was the letter unambiguous about your being unable to attend, phrases like "may suffer" or "could deteriorate" can significantly undermine the value of the letter?

Was there any mention or implication of violent tendencies? If there were then I'm afraid you won't get a home assessment and you will have to push for a Paper Based Review.

Would your GP write a suitable letter asking for a home assessment?

would a paper based review limit my chances of getting esa compared with meeting them face to face?
I have checked if they have seen the psychiatrists letter and at first there was no evidence it had been sent( I sent it by recorded mail). They then found it and promised to put it on my file. Two days later they said that my request for a home visit had been denied. The reason being the evidence does not support a home visit. On Friday they then told me that it was under review whether I should get a home visit. I have never presented as violent in dealings with the dwp.
My doctor will not do letters for any of is patients.

Hi Andrew

I am sorry you are going through this. All you can do now is wait and see whether they are prepared to review the decision. If they come back and say no, ask them what it is exactly they need from your psychiatrist and see if he would be willing to write you a second letter. As Gordon says in a previous letter, it needs to be unambiguous that this is what you need, but an assessor would be perfectly safe to visit you at home.
