ESA and war pension supplement was created by Andi
I have been in receipt of ESA which has now been considerably reduced due to payment of a war disability pension. I applied for a supplement to the war pension for lowered standard of occupation and have been turned down - 2 reasons, they MOD say I'm capable of working at my old job, and I'm in receipt of ESA. This is going to tribunal. I'm in the support group for ESA so DWP don't consider me fit for work so how can the MOD? But there bit about the ESA seems a stupid statement as obviously the one would stop if I get the other.... do you have any advice for appearing at or preparing for MOD benefit tribunals?

I'm afraid we don't have any knowledge of MOD tribunals or benefits on the forum, you could try the British Legion

Your lump sum payment from your pension will not affect either your PIP or ESA. However, regular payments will affect your contribution-based ESA if they exceed £85 a week. If your gross pension payments exceed that amount, your ESA will be reduced by half the amount they exceed it by.

Andi, I called the RBL today about a war pension review and they said appeals is what they’ll help with. So I’d google the number you need (it might be a different department) and ask them to help. You don’t need to be a member.
Good luck

Im sure you know you also need to be 40% disabled to get the supplements.
Good luck
