Hi not sure if this is the right place to write this comment , I was born with hip dysplasia, & from 2012- date I was diagnosed with kidney cancer, stage 3, fibromyalgia, osteoporosis, arthritis, Rhumatiod arthritis, sjorgrens, pernicious Anaemia, celiac, & get Anxiety & panic attacks, & under the mental health team I’m currently on ESA & PIP Can anyone tell me if I get an award from cica how would this affect the benifits that I am on as my health is deteriorating, I’m not going to get better , so now I’m concerned that they may stop my money if I get a lump sum payment from Cica for long term abuse I suffered as a child, I would appreciate any advice or information that would help me to understand this better, Thankyou,
Ther is a possibility that the Compensation Recovery Unit may may want to use some of any payment to re-pay some of your benefits although I think this is very unlikely unless some of your current limitations can be traced back to the abuse. See
If the CRU does not get involved then your PIP will not be affected by any lump sum.
If you are only receiving Contribution Based ESA then it also will not be affected but if you are receiving any Income Related ESA then it can be reduced or even stopped, see
