Mixed aged pension credit was created by minty3825
Hello can you give me some advise. My husband and I claim guanteed pension credit and are a mixed aged couple. . He is 66 and myself 64. If we have a change in circumstances we may loose our claim to pension credit. My question is my husband has been given a small increase in his private pension of £10 per week because of illness. We would still be entitled to pension credit and housing benefit if we weren’t a mixed aged couple. Will this change in circumstance mean we will no longer be entitled to pension credit and housing benefit. Will our present claim end due to this. So worried about this as I am disabled and too ill to work.

Hi minty3825
It would depend on what your change of circumstance is, for instance, if you total income from state pensions and private pensions goes over £255.25 per week and you are not eligible to any additional premiums such as Carers or SDP then you will not be eligible to claim PCG or if your savings go over £16k, this would have a knock-on effect with your HB entitlement.
You need to seek advice from a local welfare rights unit or use an on line calculator, I usually use Turn2us calculator. If you are not very good with computers then you can give Turn2us a call on 0808 802 2000 and go over the calculations over the phone, before you contact them make sure you have all your income information handy. The information you receive is only as accurate as the information you give them. If you have a small pension of £6.00 a month let them know as it will affect the results.
