Another assessment complaint - any advice? was created by ourkid
My friend is in a terrible state. She was on DLA for life and was told she would have to have an assessment to go onto PIP. She went to the assessment with her son and they have refused her PIP saying she could do all sorts of things, which she has no knowledge of being asked to do. She was so stressed and anxious at the assessment, the only thing she could remember them asking was for her to put her hands on her knees. I would think that anyone would be able to do that in a sitting position but the other things they said she could do, neither she or her son had any recollection of. Does anyone know if the assessments are filmed? She has not been awarded any points at all and I'm thinking she could ask them to look at the cctv to prove she wasn't asked to do the things they said she could do. They also said she looked well?? She only has a short time to challenge this now as she was notified on 8 Nov 2019 and has one month to apply for a mandatory reconsideration notice. Any help or advice would be really appreciated as she is really stressed over this which is aggravating her problems. Thanks in advance

Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is

My full name is showing, how can I stop it?
No, the assessments are not filmed.
The criteria for PIP is very different and a lot stricter than that for DLA.
She needs to understand those criteria and look at how her conditions limit her ability to complete each of the PIP activities.
She should have a look at our PIP Claim guide.

Thank you I'll look it up for her but it's a pity the assessment isn't filmed in a way be cause she could have asked them to look at it to confirm her side of things. Thanks very much for your help
