Moving From DLA to PIP was created by Tammy20
Hi Benefits and Work
Can you help with a query I have my son on DLA was asked by the DWP TO apply for pip , I filled in the application because my son cannot fill in forms due to his enduring mental health illness which he takes a drug called Clozapine , he also has Major anxiety and other illness
On filling in the Pip application I was advise to asked for a home visit which i did but the DWP have disregarded everything put down on his PiP application including copies of prescription's they have said he must attend a assessment centre ,now i have a duty of care to my son and I believe this rule also applies to the DWP and there Agency's like IAS, who are carrying out the assessments ,
Can i put in a complain before the assessment i feel very strongly about causes a person more anguish i would like it on record just in case my son is to ill to attend .?

Hi J

Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is

My full name is showing, how can I stop it?

Regarding your request for a home visit for your son. IAS is unlikely to give a home visit without a supportive letter from the GP which says that a visit to an assessment centre would cause him "overwhelming psychological distress" which could lead to a deterioration in his condition. However, you need to be aware if a claimant has a condition where he might show any signs of agitation or severe distress then a home visit is automatically refused because the assessment services have a duty of care to the safety of their assessors first. Several of our members have been refused a home visit on this basis recently.

The other thing you can do - but there is no guarantee that it will be accepted is to get your GP to write saying that he should not be assessed at all and that a paper-based review should be carried out. Now it depends on your GP if he would be willing to do this. Paper-based reviews are few and far between (3%) but they are done.

You are free to contact IAS and put in a complaint before the assessment
