PIP appeal was created by Aeowen
I have a question.. What is the age I can apply renew my pip. Is there still a 65 year old limit. I am going to appeal on 13th. The dwp have given me pip until April 2022. I will be 65 in sept 2022. I am appealing to receive 2 extra points for the enhanced rate for daily living. I currently have standard for daily living and enhance for mobility. Can I ask for open ended time limit. If I can't ,can I request pip in my 65 the year until sept 9th 2023 as I will still be 65. If I get open ended, will I still lose my pip on my 65th birthday.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi Susan
As you already have PIP, it will continue after the age of 65. The 65 deadline refers to new claimants or to those who have only the daily living award who then cannot apply for the mobility.
As you have both already - the 65 age deadline does not apply to you even though you are going through an appeal.

(and the "65 deadline" is now a "pension-age deadline" - see www.gov.uk/pip/eligibility)
Can you apply for increased mobility after pension age though if you're already getting it - say if your condition gets worse, or if you find better evidence that you can't walk more than 20 metres?

An existing award of Standard Mobility cannot be increased after the claimant reaches 65 or State Retirement Age (the qualifying age), whichever is the higher, cannot be increased even if the claimant meets the criteria for an Enhanced award, with the possible exception of their showing that they met the criteria before they reached the qualifying age.
