Post traumatic Pip assesment and suicidal thoughts was created by Swinkie
I'm suffering severe depression, suicidal thoughts, flash backs and nightmares after my Pip assesment.
It lasted 2 1/2 hours, before which I was sat in my wheelchair for 1/2 in the waiting room with my face in a bowl full of my own vomit, desperate to lay down.
When I went in to the assesment, I lay on the examination couch, was questioned for 2 1/2 hours, still vomiting and sodden in my own urine and faeces. It was totally dehumanising and the questions were far too personal. I was thoughrarly ashamed of my condition and utterly broken by the experience.
My carer asked if she could change me, we were told there was a toilet, made to wait till the end of the interview, then promtly shown out of the building. I had to return home covered in vomit, excrement, urine and utterly heartbroken. I cried for the rest of the day and now have flash backs, nightmares, feelings of utter worthlessness and feel suicidal...what's the point?
I've dealt with my very severe conditions for 33 years, always managing to stay positive, but this has all been a step to far and I don't know how to pull myself back from the brink this time.

Hi Swinkie
I am sorry to hear of your horrendous experience, unfortunately you are not alone and we do come across this quite often in the forum. You may want to complain about being told to wait until the end of the interview before being changed, it's something your MP might want to get involved with, as you have stated, it was very degrading and inhumane to be treated like that.
To try and put your mind at ease you should contact the DWP for a copy of the assessment report ( if you have not already done so, I would phone them but again follow up the request in writing). That way you will also have all the relevant information if you do decide to make a formal complain.

I am so very sorry to read of how you were treated,
and I just wanted to reach out and say that you are NOT worthless, not in any way
The assessors attitude and way of dealing with your case was utterly appalling and it is THEY that should feel ashamed.
Please seek help if you continue to feel so hopeless,
and I would echo Gary's suggestion of contacting your local MP (whoever that might turn out to be!!!!) because this treatment should not be allowed to happen, not to you or anyone else.
With warmest wishes to you

I echo @walker's thoughts.
You deserve respectful treatment so you can deal with your chronic conditions with dignity! Please re-connect with your innate positivity, as the memories of that experience fade...
You are valued. X
