Hi everybody
My name is Megan I haven't posted on here before, although I've been a member for some years, but today I'm having my friend help me with this post, please ignore the spelling mistakes I'm testing out my new speech text, lol
I had my PIP home assessment today 2/12/2019. It was meant to take place last month but unfortunately the assessor didn't turn up..... AND NOW I'm not sure if this went well or not, she arrived 20 minutes late, and she wasn't in a good mood, throughout the assessment on two occasions, she informed me that if I didn't answer her question she would send the form back uncompleted, and on another occasion, she spoke very rude and quoted, I'm not asking for you to predict what's going to happen, I tried a few times to explain, that every day isn't the same, I tried my best to explain it all depends on my medication, when I gave her a brief description of what my day was like the day before, she commented well it can't be like that everyday, I then explained, living with , narcolepsy, cataplexy, sleep apnoea , three forms of arthritis,Fibromyalgia, yes it is, especially, when you need take morphine every day to help with the pain. She then said that she needed to carry out a physical examination, I then tried to explain to her, that it was put on the form, due to my PDA, I have a problem with physical contact this was explained in letter from my support team,.. She then said very rudely what that's fine because you're going to touch me. And as you can imagine this went on throughout the whole assessment.... She then got a text message, which she answered asking for someone to call so she could explain that she's going to be over 20 minutes late for her next visit. I try to help her on a few occasions by telling her that I have a medication chart and a daily planner, and a lot of the information she is needing would have already being written in the planner, and this might help with answering your questions quicker. I really don't feel that today went very well. My friend and family Think that I should have phoned up capita and put in a complaint, as anybody gone through the same on their assessment . I look forward to hearing back from anyone. Kind regards Megan

Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is

Welcome to Benefits and Work

In case you are not aware, your real name appears to be showing in the forum, if you want to change this then follow the instructions in the following FAQ

My full name is showing, how can I stop it?

You will have to forgive me but I have given up trying to predict the result of a PIP assessment from how it went, we have seen the worst interviews result in the highest award and what was thought to be the best of one, result in the no award at all.

You can request a copy of the assessment report by contacting the DWP in a couple of days.

Once you have the report then you can make a decision on whether to make a complaint to the Assessment Provider or not.

Your assessor sounds similar to mine Megan. Trying to catch you out and imply your life really isn't the way you say......but, when you give them medical evidence such as letters and reports that support what you say then it just reminds them that 'other medical professionals' further up the ranks than them are supporting you and you are deserving of an award.
I requested a copy of the assessors' report and she was quite fair in it even though she appeared otherwise on the day. I got a PIP award and the decision-maker gave me an extra year more than the assessor recommended.

Hi Megan

This sounds almost exactly the same as what happened with my assessor. Are you in South Wales by any chance? I am trying to do a mandatory review submission and then probably complain about the assessor, but it's very hard with my poor health.

Kind regards

loire
