Hygiene and Pip was created by Headcase
Morning all.
Some advice reqd, if you don't mind.
I suffered a Brain/ cord injury a few years ago, all sorts of vestibular stuff awry....
After a magical mystery tour of DWP machinations;
I've been 0 pointed and given up, relying on charity for food;
To Full blown Pip award after home visit, and ESA Support group after a 'paper award'!
I'm currently up for renewal on ESA......I've given up phoning in to see where they're up to
"You're still getting paid aren't you"...
Six months after esa50 submitted (I thought I'd better ask, I'm not doing again!)
Anyway, my Pip's about to come up for renewal...
I'm embarrassed to mention it to my nearest and dearest (I live alone, but am 'looked after' meals on wheels etc.).....
I've fallen in the shower the last few times I've used it ,perching stool an all!...the shiny glass/ chrome/ water/ steam is all to much for my brain to process and down I go..... I've bought a phone that I can take in with me , and usually tell someone when I'm going to take one.
However, it's such a traumatic experience, I only shower roughly every 10 days and sleep fully clothed under a blanket in a reclining chair....
It works for me...like I say , I live alone , but it's bloody embarrassing to admit to face to face.
Is there a way of reflecting this on my pip renewal?
I can wash myself when I'm in , but bending down to dress/undress tips me over the edge vertigo wise, as do all the 'challenges' of showering as described above.
Sleeping 'upright' allows me to regain some semblance of balance later in the day, sleeping flat simply doesn't.
TIA.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi Yan
I don't know what you said originally, but you will tick either 'no change' or 'worse'. You then write what you have said above emphasizing because of the danger you are unable to shower, safely or reliably with a perching stool. You say the reasons why you fall and you tell them how often - (it sounds frequent recently). You also say that you are only able to take a shower - once every ten days (unlike other people who would expect to shower daily). Please don't be embarrassed - there is no need to be. You can only do what you can do.
You can always continue on a separate piece of paper if need be - Just remember to put the question number, your name and national insurance number of each page.
