Review of PIP recommendation by HP

Hi Everyone

Just had my home assessment by MP who was a nurse and it seemed to go alright but you can never tell and was told she would recommend a two year reassessment.

Although this sounded hopeful that I may have passed the criteria for some kind of PIP award (currently on high DLA both mobility & care)
I thought that if you’re over State pension age, which I am (69) you would get a 10 year award with a soft touch (whatever that means) on review. I didn’t mentioned this to her but she said that I might get worse and therefore be awarded a higher rate on review.

I have been on DLA for almost 20 years on the higher rate for both and don’t think my condition is going to change. So I am reading into what she said as I may get the lower rate for both.

Does anyone know if that is correct?

Thanks for all your help and advice it has really helped me.

Hi Wing

The Assessor is not supposed to say anything about what she would recommend. The best thing you can do is to ring the DWP and ask for a copy of the assessment report. There's no point in trying to read what they meant about anything before seeing the actual report.

Providing you are awarded PIP this time, you should be subject to the ten year review in the future. www.gov.uk/government/news/thousands-of-...-assessment-overhaul

Thank you BIS. I have rung the DWP today and asked for a copy of the assessment report. They said they have just received it and would send it to me. I asked them if they knew when a decision would be made about my claim and they said in approximately 10 weeks time but this is approximation and they doing them in date order.
