Question re Contribution based ESA was created by Karen1963
Hi, I am looking for advice re my ESA award. I received contribution based ESA once my statutory sick pay finished in March 2019 and was advised that I would receive this for 365 days. I was then asked to attend a medical assessment following which I was told I would be transferred into the support group and that I no longer have to submit Fit notes to the DWP. Does this mean that my award will still stop after 12 months or will it now continue.
I cannot return to work and want to do the right thing as my employer has been very understanding during my illness, but I do not know if I should resign.
I would be grateful for any advice you can offer me.
Many thanks

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Karen
The time limit on receiving Contribution Based ESA does not apply while you are in the Support Group and as you appear to have been moved straight into that group from the Assessment Phase you also retain the full 365 days should you be moved out of the SG and into the WRAG.
We can't offer advice about whether you should resign but you should definitely get face to face advice before you do, you may be giving up rights that you may later regret losing.
