unusual question,does changing name (only first name not surname) legally via a deed poll trigger a review for ESA / PIP claims?
is changing name a "change in circumstances" and threfore risk an early review for the ESA/PIP claims?

No, this is not a change that will trigger a review.

Make sure you do everything in writing so there is a paper trail if the DWP manage to get it wrong.
