Having a baby does not in itself trigger a claim for UC.
Child Benefit is not a UC benefit.
Based on your post your only option for claiming Child Tax Credits is via Universal Credit. If you do make a claim then any ESA(IR) that you receive will also be moved across although this is a manual process and can take some time to be actioned, your ESA would remain in payment while this happens.
If you only receive ESA(CB) then it will remain in payment and will be deducted from your UC but you would also receive the LCWRA element (SG equivalent) in your UC which is actually higher than the SG rate.
Your wife's Carers Allowance would mean that the Carers Element would be included.
Your PIP is not affected.
For a better understanding of what you would receive if you want to claim CTC then put your information into one of the online benefit calculators.
