Happy New Year Everybody.

Once again back on the PIP treadmill! Q7b - "Do you need help from another person to use the toilet or manage incontinence? Can you please confirm the qualifying timescale, e.g. daily weekly etc, used to determine the descriptor for needing someones help? Thanks.

Your limitations, for all of the PIP activities, must affect you on the majority of days, the usual period that is considered is a year, three months in the past and nine in the future.

So, weekly loss of bladder control will not be considered then Gordon?

If you are saying that it only happens once a week then no, this would not meet the criteria but you may be taking a simplistic view of the criteria :)

First, PIP does not consider your loss of bladder control directly, the phraseology you are using applies to ESA, not PIP. So you need to respond in terms that match the legally defined Descriptors that you are being assessed against.

Secondly, whilst the occurrence may be weekly I would assume the risk of an episode is daily or at the least more than the one day a week, remember the activities must be completed reliably, so can you reasonably argue that the help is needed or at least needs to be available more often?

Now I understand Gordon. You are absolutely correct, I am totally unable to say if and when an episode will happen. Due to a Traumatic Spinal Injury, I do in fact have multiple episodes a week, but like the majority of people who claim PIP, I just get on with it and it's now just part of who I am.
