top age for PIP was created by jaxw17
Hi my Husband gets some PIP allowance now but since being assessed he now has developed another couple of condition that make his mobility very bad. this is very severe and painful nephropathy and A.F. with very bad shortness of breath.
he will be 66 on the 8th of May. can he apply to have his claim looked at again as i believe he now meets the descriptors for a higher rate of mobility payment or is it too late now he is 65.
Thanks

Hi Jaxw17
As your husband already receives mobility it will continue. You can put in for a change of circumstances which means he will be reassessed. (Be warned - they will look at your entire claim). If worst-case scenario he lost his mobility - component, he could not reclaim it, because no one can make a new claim for the mobility component over the age of 65.

Just to add to BIS's advice, The age limit is now 65 or State Retirement Age whichever is the higher, so providing your husband has not reached SRA then he can report a Change and be awarded the Enhanced rate but if he has reached SRA then he cannot receive a higher Mobility award even if he meets the criteria for such an award, this was the same as it was for DLA.
