PIP and what the law say you score points for was created by robby
Hi,
Could you please advise me? If my PIP award is due to be reviewed after my 66th birthday, will that mean I can re-apply for or stay on PIP or will I transfer over to Attendance Allowance on my retirement and dependence on my state pension at 66?
Thank you.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi Robert
The legislation that controls the transfer of claimants from DLA to PIP suspends the age restriction so you definitely need to claim PIP. Our PIP Claim guide is on the following link if you have not found it already.

DLA was based on the amount of time a claimant needed assistance in relation to concepts such as care and safety, whereas PIP is a points based system in relation to a number of specific activities.
Attendance Allowance (AA) is for new claimants over SP age, there is no mobility component with AA.
If you have any questions come back to the forum.

To answer your question, you can continue to receive PIP providing that you continue to meet the criteria, the only restriction is that once you reach 65 or State Retirement Age, whichever is the higher then you cannot receive a Mobility award if you do not have one, or an increased award if you only have a Standard one at the moment, even if you meet the criteria.
