Late Cancelation of PIP Appointment

My appointment was originally made by the D.W.P. for a place several miles away from my home. I contacted the D.W.P. informing them that because of my medical condition I was unable to travel that far. They changed the date and venue to nearer my home with a stern warning that I would be unable to change the appointment again. I suffer from anxiety, depression and physical disabilities and as the date of my appointment got nearer I was unable to sleep correctly and was in a terrible nervous state. On the day of my appointment I was ready to attend when one hour before my appointment time I received a call from the D.W.P. to cancel my appointment due to lack of assessors. I was offered an appointment for later on in the day but because of other commitments that day I could not accept. My new appointment is at the beginning of February so I will have to go through all the anxiety and nervous state previously endured for one more time. I wonder at times if my health can take all the stress. Why are there no assessors on stand by or is it fine to make matters worse for claimants.

Hi ssb

I'm sorry this has happened to you. Unfortunately, you are not the only person this has happened to. In some areas of the country, there is a shortage of assessors.
