Please could you give me some advice if you have been through a PIP assessment. I have mine in a fortnight at home. I have Spina Bifida and use crutches. Currently I receive Higher level Mobility and lower rate care component. What do's and don'ts would you recommend? Many thanks

Hello Siobhan.
I had a home PIP assessment back in October 2019. If you can, I would recommend you have someone with you such as a relative or friend. It just makes you feel more at ease.
My assessor did not ask to look around my home and the assessment took an hour.
2 days after the assessment I received a text message from DWP to let me know they had received the report. I then telephoned them to request a copy of the assessors' report, which arrived later that week.

Hi there.
I’d point you towards the PIP guide on this site, I had a good read on preparation for assessment.
I was terrified you hear read so many horrible tales☹️
My assessment was carried out by a nurse at my home, she was warm , patient and gave me plenty of time to explain my health condition, it lasted 2 hours mainly due to my communication issue and she covered all the questions on the Pip form. At the end she gave me an idea of when a decision would be made, that was on 19/12/19, I’m waiting for the decision now. Prepare before use guides and if possible have another person with you. Best of luck.
