Requesting paper-only PIP decision was created by little_spider
hello all
I'm thinking of requesting a paper-only review for PIP. Face to face assessment was due last week, but cancelled on the day by Atos. I have a new date, in a few weeks time.
These are my questions:
1. Is it too late to request a paper-only review? (because of almost unbearable stress of face to face assessment)
2. Presumably I'd need a letter from a medical professional saying specifically that the face to face assessment would be too much for me?
3. Most importantly, would it be likely to damage my claim in any way if a paper-only review were granted? especially thinking ahead to if I have to appeal the decision.
Many thanks for any thoughts on this.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

1. No, but the fact that you have already accepted a face to face may count against you.
2. Yes, you will need a letter from your GP or the same stating in unambiguous terms what harm you be at risk of suffering if a face to face was required.
3. Some members have said that they expected to score higher, this could be because their limitations were ones that would have benefited from the assessor seeing them but it could also have been that they lacked evidence or did not address the PIP Descriptors properly.

Thanks, Gordon. Would I make the request to Atos or to the DWP?

It's ATOS who make the decision on a face to face.
