Pip Mandatory recon - can I appeal length of award was created by Hugo
Hi,
I will be requesting a MR from pip after my review only gave me standard for both care and mobility. My needs have changed and I think I should be getting high on both now.
Question is , they did a telephone assessment as in their words “your gp letter was so good”
She said in the report I recommend extending the award time and she has given me 2 years and no review before 1 year.
This isn’t extending the award time as I have always had 2 year awards?!? Anyway can I appeal this and request for a longer period as my health condition has been with me since childhood and not got better only worse?
Thanks

PIP Decisions include the length of the award so yes, you can ask for a longer award as part of your MR.

A short term award is made where the assessor believes that the claimant's conditions and limitations are liable to change, this could be for the better but it could also be for the worse and/or that the claimant will be able to adapt to their limitations meaning that they can more reliably complete the PIP activities.
Unfortunately, we cannot provide any content for you to use the arguments are specific to you, your conditions and your limitations.
The difficulty that you might have is that you acknowledged in your original post that you "needs have changed" and this may be the very reason that you received a short award. so in addition to dealing with the issues I mentioned above you are also going to have to deal with the changes that you have recently experienced.
