'No change' on PIP query (Gordon) was created by annie-rose
I'm really stuck with the PIP Review form.
As detailed in another post I was sent a letter recently saying that the Mobility element of my PIP had been looked at again, given changes to the law (RE mental health and mobility) and it was decided that I still scored 4 points for needing prompting. I also have 30 something Care points, which were awarded several years ago and renewed three years ago. I have just past the month, in which I could have appealed this decision (re. mobility) but I know it's still possible to appeal for the next 12 months with good reason.
Anyway I'm now filling in the PIP Review form and my main goal is to avoid a F2F, which I know I cannot attend (nor can I have visitors to the house due to the nature of my condition).
If I truthfully answer the Mobility section then my answer would be 'Things have got worse', I am confined to the house for most days each week and never leave without someone else- I've not been to my local town for years, nor could I get to the corner shop. I don't drive and cannot take public transport HOWEVER I think that if I put this then I am much more likely to be called for a F2F.
I won't cope with that at all so as much as it would not be good to miss out on the Mobility component- I am just wondering whether anyone knows if 'No change' is slightly less likely to result in a F2F?
For reference I have been on both ESA and PIP for several years without an F2F due to the letters that various medical professionals have provided, which have stated that I would experience worsened symptoms if I had to attend one.
Having looked at the criteria for Mobility I actually do think I should have been awarded it when I was last assessed however again I was very anxious that appealing their decision would lead to a F2F.
So now I'm stuck- I could:
- Tick 'No change' for the Mobility section and leave it at that. I imagine I might be slightly less likely to be called for a face to face assessment and at least I get higher rate care.
- Tick 'Things have got worse' and explain how. I imagine this is likely to lead to a face to face assessment. The result of which could be losing the Enhanced Care element, which I absolutely meet the criteria for (I have really severe functional limitations because of my psychiatric conditions)
- Appeal the original decision RE. Mobility.
I really don't know what to do! Any advice welcome!

I'm not sure what advice we can give but these are the things that I would be asking myself, you will have to provide your own answers.
First, how likely are you to score the extra points needed for a Mobility award? You have two arguments that you can put forward, they are mutually exclusive of each other so you will have to decide which, if either, that you might go with.
1. You are unable to undertake any journey due to overwhelming psychological distress, however, you say that you go out for "one appointment each week and for occasional dog walks".
2. You are unable to follow a route due to overwhelming psychological distress, you don't mention any sensory or cognitive issues that would prevent you from doing this. You have not made any comment about the difficulties you would have doing this in your previous posts
Next, how valuable is the extra money to you, the Standard Mobility rate is£58.70 £23.20 per week at the moment?
How likely are you to have an assessment this time, previous Paper Based Reviews are no guarantee that the assessor dealing with your claim this time will decide that a face to face is not required?
And lastly, how much do you increase the chance of an appointment if you do report a change in your Mobility? The risk is certainly higher but it is not a given?

Thanks Gordon.
I think that I qualify for: 'Cannot due to overwhelming distress undertake unfamiliar journeys without someone accompanying'. I cannot use public transport nor do I drive (both due to my illness) so any journeys are by foot and with someone there to help me to stay calm. I would not be able to get to my appointment each week without my family member driving me there and collecting me (I get really anxious if I have to wait for even a minute as standing outside causes me huge anxiety) and again the walks are with someone and only with them driving- the environment that we walk in is not one that contains the same 'triggers' as would a walk into town or in any busy, populated place.
I don't have difficulties with cognition but any triggers along a journey by foot would cause me overwhelming panic and I would go home rather than get to my destination. For example if I had to walk (1/2 a mile) to my appointment (related to my condition) and encountered a trigger (which is VERY likely due to the nature of my condition) then I would have a panic attack, go home and have to complete a number of (potentially harmful to my physical health) actions after this in order to 'undo' the harm that the journey caused. It's very likely that I wouldn't make the journey.
However I think that the risk of a F2F is too high so I think that I will stick with 'No change'.
