PIP Questions was created by Nina
Hi, I want you to please explain more on question 3 of the PIP form. What sort of meals is DWP referring to as simple meals? Is cooking chicken or meat included as making simple meals?
Also managing treatment question 5: can therapy be recommended by a pharmacy instead of a doctor. My pharmacy recommended contrast bath therapy for my condition. Is this recognized as a therapy by the DWP?
Thanks

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

There is no clear definition of a simple meal but if you treated it as meat and two veg then you should be OK. It does not include prepared meals or prepared vegetables and the cooking must be done on a hob or microwave.
Yes, something recommended by a pharmacist will count but you will need it in writing or it is unlikely to be considered.
“Therapy” means therapy to be undertaken at home which is prescribed or recommended by
a—
(a) registered –
(i) doctor;
(ii) nurse; or
(iii) pharmacist; or
(b) health professional regulated by the Health Professions Council
also, remember it is not the therapy itself that is being considered but the supervision, prompting or assistance that is need for you to complete it.
See our PIP Claim guide for more details.
