Work as therapy for pip was created by Andrew58
Hi Hope to get some advice I am filling pip review form for a relative. He has asd ocd and ednos. He has a part time job which he has reasonable adjustments in place from access to work. He is driven to front door and picked up from there each day. He works 5 hours each day three days a week. He also has a work buddy who helps him in work.
He has been advised by metal health nurse, therapists ,work coach and gp to try to continue to work to benefit metal wellness and prevent deterioration.
Could this be classed as needing help with therapy for pip as he couldn’t get to work if he wasn’t driven. He’s documented as not being able to use any public transport
Hope somebody can help me please

Hi Andrew58

You state that you are completing a PIP review form, has your relative got a copy of the original claim? Has there been any change in your relatives circumstances? If there has been no change then I would use the original form details and add no change in their circumstances as you go through each section, what you should not do is just write no change. If there has been a change either adverse or positive then mention it on the form.

At the end of the form it asks for any other details, you can add what help and assistance they require on a day to day basis.

Have at look at our well drafted guides www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/help-for-claimants/pip for inspiration.

If you have any issues with your relatives claim as you go through it, come back to the forum and we will do our best to help.

Andrew

Therapy needs to be done in the home for it to be considered so the work he is doing will not count.

Thanks for th e quick replies
Yes Gary he has his original form and also his assessment report. He was awarded standard daily living and enhance mobility last time for 30 months
His major change is he has been diagnosed with an eating disorder He scored2 points for prompting meals last time I think he might score more this timeWhats your thoughts on how to explain his difficulties He needs supervision to make sure he eats properly.
Would his parents having to help him with coping strategies before and after work at home count Gordon ?

Just looked at his points from assessment
They gave 2 points for prompting to prepare food
Zero for taking nutrition
2 points for prompting to engage face to face
I think he should have cored more for engagement he definitely needs social support but don’t know how to approach this.
His work coach told him he needs any forms work give him to have24 hrs to take home to take time and get advice before he signs. Would he qualify for points in the reading section?

Hi Andrew

His parents giving him coping strategies before and after work does not constitute therapy - it support. That sort of help can't be 'prescribed' and would vary on a day to day basis so is hard to clarify. However, if he has an eating disorder, then he clearly needs support to ensure that he has the right level of nutrition (whether he gets it or accepts it) and the same for preparing food.
