Date of award was created by Fleur33
Hi everyone,
I have contacted the DWP for a date when DLA was awarded. They have told me this is not possible.
What can I do to obtain this please?
Is there anyone high up I could write to for this information?
Thanks

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Only the DWP can tell you, I'm actually surprised that they can't I would have expected the information to be on your computer record, certainly, the last award should be. Why do you need to start date?

Hi Gorden,
Only recently discovered that I entitled to a council tax reduction! I was not told this by social workers, occupational therapists or the actual council!!!
Discovered this from a neighbours friend!
The council have now said they will backdate, providing I can provide proof of my stepsons initial DLA award ( He now gets PIP) He is severely disabled and there is an adaption on the property which the council granted permission for yet still the information regarding a reduction was not disclosed.
DWP say they only have my stepsons recent record of a PIP award and his DLA award will be archived.
I find this hard to believe as don’t they check what you have submitted against previous claim?
Many thanks
Bobbi

Who have you been phoning the PIP or DLA Helplines, if the former then I would not expect them to have access to his DLA information?
You can do a Subject Access Request for the information, see
www.gov.uk/guidance/request-your-persona...or-work-and-pensions
Be aware the DWP do routinely destroy claimant information so if there is no computer record then they may not be able to provide the information although they should still be able to provide some.

Hi Gorden,
I rang PIP first and they put me through to DLA.
I shall write a letter to request.
Thanks so much
