First Meeting was created by Warsim
Hi All,
I have been asked to attend a HAAAS meeting and I have never had one of these before can anyone let me know what to expect?
According to them I have missed 3 other meetings which should have taken place over the last few months. I have asked them which address details they are using but no answer. I have now been told if I turn up to this one I will be fine.
I had surgery last February and it didnt go well, I am now in a worse state than before. Would they come to me as my movement is now limited?
Sorry for the rambling not the best at the moment.

Is this for an assessment or some other sort of meeting?
If the former then there are sections in our ESA Claim guide that cover the appointment and the questions that you might be asked, see
www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/help-for-claimants/esa1
If you don't attend then your file will be returned to the DWP who may close your ESA claim.
If the meeting is for something else then you will need to provide additional information for us to be able to help you.

Hi Gordon,
I am on Universal Credit at the moment in the "Looking for work group" but have been ill for the last 14 months of claiming and have provided "Fit Notes" to cover it. The claiming system is very complicated as I have worked for the last 36 years and no one seems to want to help.
I had spinal surgery last Feb and it didn't go right. I now have a list of things I cant do from bathing to cutting up my own food. I am still under a specialist they are trying to find out what went wrong and had a brain scan last week.
I will attend but movement is very painful and hard for me to do that is why I asked about home visits.
Thanks
Simon

Hi Warsim
Follow Gordon's link above in regards to what questions you may be asked. If you cannot do any activity the assessor asks then politely refuse and explain why you cannot do it.
You can rearrange the appointment once, but you will have to attend the new one or you risk your claim being closed for failing to attend.
As to asking for a home visit, you will need the support of your GP or psychiatrist and get a letter that states travelling to an assessment centre would cause you "overwhelming psychological distress" and would lead to a deterioration in your mental health. If the letter states 'may cause' or 'might cause' then you will probably not get a home visit, they are harder to get nowadays.
