Hi All Just for clarification. Moving from my late Mothers 3 bedroom house to a 1 bedroom Bungalow with my local Council. The Bungalow is in the same Council District (under the same Council). Would this constitute as a change of circumstances? Kind Regards, Rob.
Moving within the same local authority is not classed as a change of circumstances, providing your circumstances have not changed i.e if you are single, you are still single when you move home.
If you are in receipt of HB you will still be able to claim HB. The only change if you are single is that you will not be affected by the under occupancy charge, whereas previously you would have lost 25% of your HB entitlement.
If you are claiming any other benefits then you will have to let DWP know your new address, whenever you contact DWP always ask for the name of the person you are talking to and write down date and time.
