Typing PIP Form Answers Instead Of Hand Writinb was created by angel153
Hi everyone,
I need to know if it’s acceptable to the DWP for ALL of extra information that you can add in the spaces provided to by typed on separate sheets, and put into the form next to the appropriate page.
My partner fills in these forms for me, but his handwriting has got even worse since the last time he did my DLA forms for me, and I’m worried that they won’t be able to understand what he writes. I’m thinking that if he ticks whichever box, then writes “please see page... question...” in the space provided, will the DWP accept that?
Might sound like a stupid question, but I don’t want to get it wrong.
Thanks in advance,
Angel153

It is perfectly OK for you to type your answers and attach them as extra pages to the PIP2, just make sure that each page has your full name and NIN at the top and that they are numbered, we recommend "page X of Y" so that it is easy to see if pages are missing. Make sure you clearly mark on the form where your answers are and on the relevant page that you are answering question X.
Attach the pages to the back of the form using a staple or make a hole in the top left corner and use a treasury tag, string or ribbon to the form. The pages need to be easily detached so that they can be scanned by the DWP.

Thanks, Gordon.
That’s really good to know, especially about the pages needing to be easily detachable so they can scan them. I’ve always stapled everything together before - is it better to use those string things with metal ends instead, or does it just make it easier for them to lose papers even when they’re numbered 1/50, 2/50, or whatever? - We have always put in as much extra info, pictures, reports, letters, etc as possible. One ESA application (successful, work exempt group) was 100 pages, from memory. We had to buy an industrial office stapler with enormous staples!
Thanks again. The advice here is literally invaluable.

Hi Angel153
The DWP prefers things to be tied together with string. They don't like staples - they're a nuisance when you have to scan information.
