G.P. Forms To Be Filled Out For DWP ? ? was created by Tired2000
I really appreciate reading this article, as I did not realize that this was going on at other GP practices. I honestly thought it was just a personal issue regarding my surgery.
I have only just acquired copies of DWP records, showing that these forms have been ignored by the surgery as well as the GP's for over a decade.
This has meant that for the past few years now I wouldn't have had to fill out any paperwork, but due to lack of medical information about my illness and conditions, I am not in the correct category.
Can anyone please help me with the correct information regarding rules/laws that tell the GP practices this information has to be supplied, because as it stands the government rules contradict each other.
They tell us/GP that they will contact them, but they tell us that they do not contact our GP, so provide as much evidence as possible!?
Any help with this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Tired2000

I have moved your post, because you asked a question on a post that was last active eight years ago.

The DWP only contact a small number of GPs for evidence about people's health in support of benefit claims.

GPs are under no obligation to provide any patient with a letter supporting their application for benefits if the patient puts in a request for one. Some GPs will do so willingly, some will at a cost and some refuse to do so at all.

If the DWP send out a form to the GP making a request for medical information - GPs are supposed to complete it and there is information available on what they should say.

Not every benefit claimant asks GPs for letters, particularly if they have little or no contact with them. However, if you are someone who sees your GP on a regular basis, then you would be better asking them for a letter yourself.
